This leg armor saved my bacon. To be more specific, I T-boned a Civic that was making a very ambitious turn in front of me, and the armor absorbed quite a bit of crunching. I walked away. Aside from the armor doing it's job, here's a review: The armor feels comfortable, provided you have baggy pants and can wear them under your pants. I tried wearing them over - velcro wasn't long enough. My legs are a little thicker, so your experience may differ. After a few months the velcro starts to fatigue a little, but will still hold to your leg - just not with the gusto it used to. Some 'fur' accumulated in the strap hook and loop will weaken the velcro, and I haven't figured a way to groom it out yet. when I do, they'll be great again. Again, saving my kneecaps makes it all a worth while purchase. You can see the crack in the picture where the armor did it's job saving my kneecap!
