I'm a 29" waist. Got the small and use the velcro waist adjustment straps to as small as they go. They look pretty good. Not too baggy. Armor in the knee is easy to adjust and seems to be in the right place when I'm on the bike. Haven't used the liner yet. Have only worn the pants in mild and slightly cold weather (down to 50s). Did not use liner and felt comfortable. Not sure how much cooling will be provided by removing the detachable portion.
