Sizing Information

We measured a selection of these jackets and also tried them on our Fit Check mannequins Huey and Dewey to see how they fit (Huey is in a Euro 52 and Dewey is in a 56) and they both look great. The overall cut of the jacket is about average for a street rider. It isn’t a very snug and aggressive fit like with sport/race jacket, but it isn’t loose either.

This product is sold in European sizes. This jacket follows the usual Euro to US conversion where the US chest size is equivalent to 10 points less than the European jacket size. Example: a 56 Euro jacket is similar to a size 46/XL men’s US size. To choose a size in this jacket, I’d suggest you measure yourself with a tape and get your chest size and belly size, then use the size chart to pick the smallest size jacket that will be big enough for both your chest and belly using the chart below. Approximate US alpha sizes are also listed in the chart so you can check if the jacket size you choose is the same alpha size as you normally wear in men’s clothing.

Sizing tips for upgrading armor: If you plan to add a back protector add 1” to your measured chest and belly size before selecting a size using the size chart.

While the fit of this jacket is about “average” as I described above, I would caution against this model if you have wide shoulders or a stocky upper body build. I didn’t find the overalls size to be too restrictive, but this particular model doesn’t have expansion features behind the shoulders so there isn’t as much “give” in that area as some other models.

Our Two Cents

The Laguna Seca 3 D-Dry jacket from Dainese is a short waist, sporty style jacket for everyday street riders. This jacket has a built in a waterproof liner and a full sleeve removable thermal liner, so this style will shine in cold to mild and wet weather. Armor is included for the shoulders and elbows and a back protector is an optional accessory.

This jacket has a built in rain liner, so it is meant to be more “bulletproof” in terms of being able to keep water out. With the full rain liner, it has a better chance of keeping ALL water out. But since the liner doesn’t allow cooling air to flow through from the vents to your skin, this style will be best for mild to colder weather temps involving rain. In hot weather, I’m afraid it would be a cooker. It has zip vents on the upper sleeve and in back, which will work to some degree, but it won’t work as well as venting systems in a jacket without a fixed rain liner.

For colder weather use, this jacket will perform well. It is equipped with an insulated full-sleeve thermal liner which has a good deal of thickness and should insulate well.

The armor included in the shoulders and elbows very robust but comfortable. It’s a hard plastic and foam type typically found in race suits and jackets. The elbow armor extends all the way down the forearm to give great coverage. For optional back armor, this jacket is set up with a fabric pocket built into the inside liner. The back armor pocket takes either of the two back pads listed below. For this jacket, I’d recommend the Manis back protector since it is most similar in construction to the elbow/shoulder armor.

There is a full-around zipper installed for connection to Dainese pants. There are several nice options in our pants Department. This jacket is about the least expensive Dainese street jacket with the waterproofing features and the thermal liner. It doesn’t have as many features as some of the higher priced jacket and the material used here are of the more common variety, but the overall quality and styling is still here and the armor used is equal to nearly all other models for 2019 (except no option for chest armor).
