Sizing Information

We measured a selection of these jackets and also tried them on our Fit Check mannequins Huey and Dewey to see how they fit (Huey is in a Euro 52 and Dewey is in a 56) and they both look great. The overall fit is consistent with other European sized jacket we sell such as Alpinestars and REVIT.

This product is sold in European sizes. Generally speaking, the US chest size in inches is equivalent to roughly 10 points less than the European jacket size. Example: a 56 Euro jacket is similar to a size 46/XL men’s US size. To choose a size in this jacket, I’d suggest you measure yourself with a tape and get your chest size and belly size, then use the size chart to pick the smallest size jacket that will be big enough for both your chest and belly using the chart below. Approximate US alpha sizes are also listed in the chart so you can check if the jacket size you choose is the same alpha size as you normally wear in men’s clothing.

The overall cut of this particular style jacket is sporty but not too restrictive and there isn’t a great deal of taper from chest to belly like with more race cut jackets. But it isn’t a loose fit jacket either. If you find yourself between sizes in the chart, I’d suggest choosing the larger.

Sizing tips for upgrading armor: If you plan to add a back protector add 1” to your measured chest/belly size before using the size chart.

Our Two Cents

The styling of the Air Track Tex jacket is the thing that differentiates this jacket from the others in the Dainese lineup. It’s more of a classic/retro style rather than sport. Suede strips are used on the chest to add an unusual look.

Of all the Dainese mesh styles, I think this one has the most “classic” styling. I reminds me of Dainese’s many super looking retro leather jackets as part of their “72” lineup. It has the same sporty fit of the other Dainese jacket, but without racing colors and stripes like many of the others. This jacket is super light and mostly mesh so wind will blow right through to your skin making it a perfect choice for hot summer months. Most of the shell is mesh, but the shoulders and elbows have solid material to beef up the abrasion protection just a bit.

Armor is included for the shoulders and elbows. It is a lightweight hard plastic over foam type that has been around for years. It works well and is very comfortable. If you like, you can add a back protector. I’ve listed two best options below. We recommend the Pro Armor G back protector because of its lightweight and its air flow-properties the Manis D1 G is also an option if you prefer a hard plastic shell back protector. Dainese says: Cowhide suede inserts keep you looking cool while a mesh shell keep you feeling cool. CE rated elbow and shoulder armor absorb impact energy while a pocket for a back protector lets you add in more protection. A jacket-to-jeans connection loop helps hold down the jacket in case your were to ever slide feet first.
