The REV'IT Austin Jeans might be just what the doctor ordered! Gear-wise, I'm hard to fit being on the smaller end of the size scale; my normal jeans size are Levi's 505 @ 29"W x 28"L; I wanted to get a good pair of riding jeans for my more casual, short rides. Upon reading Paul's excellent/accurate description, I took the risk of ordering the Austin jeans in the 28"W 34"L (assuming that I would shorten the hem length to 28"). To my pleasant surprise, these jeans fit me very well. The waist fit is vanity sized (the waist is a bit large for me) and the waistband has some stretch fabric for even more compliance. The hips are roomy enough even with the optional SEESOFT hip pads installed, but become stiffer and slightly less flexible. The upper legs are "normal" (i.e. not skinny) and wide enough to fit my bicycling thighs. The legs taper down to a 7" opening, enough to cover my Tourmaster Epic touring boots (my Sidi racing boots will not fit). The SEESMART knee pads (very soft and flexible) are long enough to cover a wide range, surprisingly still fitting me even with my 6" shortened hem. The jeans are a bit heavy with the protective elements, the reinforced seat and knee being thicker and the knee and hip inserts. But the pre-washed soft, stretchy denim/cordura fabric is quite comfortable against the skin, it feels broken in already. The flexibility feels pretty good for both upright and sport riding. The build quality and details looks thoughtful and well executed. The bad: The rear pockets look awkward being a very long at 8", most normal jeans have 6" pockets (perhaps the extra length adds to more seat protection). The coin pocket is very narrow and deep, good luck fishing anything out of it. Jeans are a very personal thing, I'm glad I gave these REV'IT a shot and I'm glad they were available in the smaller size. Thanks!
