Sizing Information

FirstGear sells these boots in US sizes. In trying them on, we found the boots to run true to the stated size. We therefore recommend that you buy the size you normally wear in men’s street shoes. If you are sometimes between sizes, I’d recommend choosing the larger.

The width of these boots is “medium”, perhaps a C or D width.

In case you already have experience in fitting FirstGear boots, this model, which is new in 2019 fits more “normally” than FirstGear boots from previous years. The older styles ran about one size small as compared to their stated size.

Our Two Cents

The new Kilimanjaro Boots for 2019 are a waterproof all-purpose riding boot. They offer solid construction and a very unique closure system.

We’ve seen several boots in the last few years come out with the cable/ratchet closure system. It’s like industrial duty laces! This closure system has a pre-threaded mono-filament on the outsides of the boot that tightens with the round disc with a ratchet mechanism. Sidi was the first one I’ve seen… they call it their “boa” system. I’ve also seen it on REVIT boots as well. It’s a neat idea and has the advantage of being more adjustable than just the traditional “open-close” side zipper. I was excited to see a more “every day” boot like this one with the closure system. Unfortunately, while I was testing the mechanism, a couple of the plastic guides on the boot that hold the mono-filament wire broke easily. It looks to me like a design flaw rather than a one-off problem, so I really can’t recommend this boot. Maybe they’ll get this issue worked out in a future version. :: Paul, 01-27-20

FirstGear says: Tough enough to stand atop the peak they’re named after, this protective high boot has protective thermo-plastic rubber inserts to keep you comfortable against and firmly connected to your machine. Support on big hits comes courtesy of the semi-rigid poly mesh and 100% cowhide leather upper, and wet weather or water crossings are easily handled by the Hipora® waterproof and breathable liner that will keep water away but also allow sweat to evaporate out. Don’t let sore feet or ankles slow you down, these boots will take your riding comfort to new heights.

It Doesn't fit but probably going to give it one more try. In the past my first gear boots have run a bit narrow, and a size to small, but supposedly these boots were more of an American fit. Apparently they are not. I'm an 11, so I purchased an ... (Read more...)
