Sizing Information

These pants are sold in US Alpha sizes and Alpinestars offers a chart to estimate the waist size for each size. The conversion estimates are about what you’d expect for each US alpha size, and measurements of each size pretty accurately match Alpinestars published sizing chart.

To help you get the right size, we’ve condensed Alpinestars rather complicated chart to something more easily readable. Please note that we are listing a waist size range for each pant because the pants have adjustment tabs on the waist that allow you to snug them down if needed (but they don’t get bigger). Choose a size based on the measurement of your waist.

Alpha Size Alpinestars Waist
Size Estimate
Measured Inseam
Small 30 to 31.5 30.5
Medium 31.5 to 33 31.5
Large 33 to 34.5 33
XL 36 to 37.5 33.5
XXL 38 to 39 34.5
XXXL 41 to 42.5 35
XXXXL 42.5 to 44 35

Our Two Cents

Alpinestars Yaguara Drystar pants are waterproof and they have venting. The waterproofing setup is “bonded” which performs very well and gives greater airflow. Armor is included in the knees and hips. Detachable suspenders are also included!

The waterproofing setup on these pants is just like with the matching jacket. It is a “bonded” construction which means the waterproofing membrane is bonded to the back side of the textile shell material. Being bonded rather than having a separate waterproof liner behind the shell means that the water is blocked from passing through the outer shell and therefore the shell material does not become waterlogged in a rain. Even though the pants only have one pair of zippered vents, those vents will perform better than pants with a traditional integrated waterproof liner. When the vents are open, the air coming through the vents goes right through to your body. The pants are not otherwise vented, so they’ll be toasty on hot summer days, but they’ll be fine in all other conditions. Just layer underneath in cold weather to suit the climate. Down low on the legs, they’ve incorporated a couple zip vents which will allow some air to the lower leg. Those might work for you but would depend upon what kind of boots you have.

In these pants, you get level 2 CE-certified Bio Air knee protectors. These protectors are the highest rated and most substantial of any armor we offer. The hips are equipped with foam pads. You can upgrade the hips with more substantial protectors which are rated CE level 1. See those below. The knee area is reinforced with some strips of Aramid material. They add some extra abrasion protection and add some style too.

The pocket setup is pretty complete… there are two zip close pockets up top and then two patch pockets below, which is a pretty generous setup and handy when touring.

Check out the suspenders on these pants. They are removable if you don’t want to use the, but suspenders on motorcycle pants are pretty darn comfortable if you ask me. Using suspenders means you don’t have to crank the waist belt down so much which is much more comfortable when sitting on a bike for a long time. Try them… you’ll like them!

Overall, I really like these pants. They are about as complete as you can make a waterproof pant and have an excellent armor package. :: Paul, 05-30-18
