Sizing Information

The “Tex” Classics and Chinos are sold in US waist sizes from 28 to 44 in one inch increments. We found the waist to measure out just slightly larger than the stated size which is typical for men’s jeans and pants, so my overall advice would be to buy the waist size you normally wear in jeans; you’ll likely find a fit. If you aren’t sure whether your jeans are vanity sized like I’m describing, then either measure your waist where your normal jeans ride or measure your favorite pair of jeans to verify. You’ll probably find that you measure out a bit bigger than your normal jeans size and also the waist of your favorite jeans measures out an inch or so bigger than their stated size. If so, you will be on track following my advice. If you are trying to decide between two sizes, I’d advise the larger only because these pants are as “vanity sized” as some and also because the fabric is not stretchy.

The inseam lengths measured out to be “normal”. In the smaller jeans, the inseam of about 31”, the mid-sized jeans were about 32” and the larger jeans topped out at about 34”. Since the fabric used is a blend of cotton and synthetic materials, I doubt you’ll see much shrinkage.

As the product names imply the Classic Regular and Classic slim could be compared to Regular cut jeans and Slim cut jeans and of course the Chino Tex is cut with more room in the hip, crotch and thigh. All the styles taper to a slim leg end.

Our Two Cents

New for 2021 is the Dainese line of “Tex” pants. These pants come in three different cuts with self descriptive names; The Chino Tex Pants, the Classic Regular Tex Pants and the Classic Slim Tex Pants. Both Classic styles are more or less the cut of a jean, but made with the Armalith® fabric, a blend of cotton, Lycra® and UHMWPE (Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene) fiber. The fabric is extremely sturdy feeling. I’d liken it fabrics you might encounter in well made clothes for hard work… construction, farming, etc. The advantage of an abrasive resistant fabric like this for motorcycling is that the pants can give you protection with one single layer (no liners or extra layers), so they pants are comfortable and look good on or off the bike. Jeans and pants like this are considered a “premium” design as compared to lesser priced pants and jeans made of more common fabrics.

All three versions have similar physical characteristics. All include Pro Shape armor for both hips and knees, so there is nothing else to buy. The Pro Shape armor is very thin and very flexible and is not visible through the pant, so you will feel comfortable wearing the pants on or off the motorcycle.

I’d recommend these pants for most times of year except perhaps very hot weather due to the heft of the fabric and because there are no venting features. Belt loops are provided on all three styles so you can wear a belt to fine tune the fit. Take the links below to view the other version of this pants. :: Paul, 07-29-21

Dainese says: Casual Slim Superior Protection Pants are a technical motorcycle garment that combines Dainese safety with the comfort and convenience of everyday pants. They are made with innovative Armalith® fabric, a soft but extremely abrasion- and tear-resistant composition of cotton, Lycra® and UHMWPE (Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene) fiber. This very lightweight material, used in the field of industrial safety, is more resistant to abrasion than cordura or aramid fiber and offers greater mechanical strength than steel. Heightened protection in a single-layer yarn with no additional layers, which has the same consistency and fit as normal cotton pants. With a classic casual five-pocket pants cut and a slim fit. Safety is also guaranteed with Pro Shape 2.0 certified soft protectors at the knees and hips. Casual Regular Superior Protection Pants are prEN 17092-02 certified at level AA.
