We measured a selection of these jackets and also tried them on our Fit Check mannequins Huey and Dewey to see how they fit. Huey is wearing a Euro 52 and Dewey is in a 56 which both look great.
This product is sold in European sizes. Generally speaking, the US chest size in inches is equivalent to roughly 10 points less than the European jacket size. Example: a 56 Euro jacket is similar to a size 46/XL men’s US size. Many Dainese sport jackets run a bit smaller than this, but I find this model to run true to size. I’d suggest you measure yourself with a tape and get your chest size and belly size, then use the size chart to pick the smallest size jacket that will be big enough for both your chest and belly using the chart below. Approximate US alpha sizes are also listed in the chart so you can check if the jacket size you choose is the same alpha size as you normally wear in men’s clothing.
I’d call the overall cut of this jacket “street/sport”. It is meant to fit snug, but it doesn’t fit as snugly as many true sport/race jackets. The difference between the max chest and max belly is about 4”. With sport/race jackets the “drop” from chest to waist will be more like 4” to 8” depending on the model. The overall fit if this style is more casual and should be any easy fit for most body types.
Sizing tips for upgrading armor: If you plan to add a back protector add 1” to your measured chest/belly size before using the size chart. If you plan to add chest armor, add an additional inch to your chest measurement.

Our Two Cents
The Dainese Nexus jacket is new for 2019. It is an affordable full-leather sport riding jacket option. It comes with armor in the shoulders and elbows. Back and chest armor are optional. This jacket is available in a solid leather and a perforated leather versions (use the link below to view the other version).
I’m not a slim guy… I’d say just average and I find some sport jacket to be restrictive to wear, but the cut of this Nexus jacket is a little more “street” and a little less “race” than most jackets in the Dainese sport jacket lineup. The overall cut feels a little larger (as I describe in the sizing advice), and this jacket uses a LOT of stretch fabric materials on the inside of the arm and down the sizes of the torso, which really helps this jacket move with you. I also found the arm size to be a little larger than their other jackets too, so if you have a more athletic/beefy build, this jacket may work better for you.
Two versions of this jacket are available… a solid leather and a perforated leather version. All the features of the two versions are the same, so you’ll want to decide which you want based on what time of year you think you’ll use the jacket and what your overall climate is like. Obviously, the perf jacket will be the one to buy for hotter weather use, and the solid jacket will work better for cold to mild weather use. The insides of both jacket are lined with flow thru nylon mesh.
The armor included for the shoulders and elbows is a “plastic over foam” type that is common in race jackets. It is highly protective but lighter and thinner than the molded rubber types, which are found in more street oriented jackets. The back protector I’d recommend for this jacket is the Pro-Armor G back protector. Take the link below to order. It is a honeycomb design and will work great in a style like this. And finally, you can chest protector units which are made of a hard shell over a foam material… very similar in construction to the shoulder and elbow armor. With the entire package, this jacket should be very protective against falls and impacts and then the leather shell will give you excellent protection against abrasion. Just to give you an idea as to what protective features make some of Dainese’s other sport/race jacket higher priced, a couple examples are: hard armor units on the outside of the jacket as well as the internal armor. Some even have “sliders” on the elbows (like the Super Speed 3). Speed humps are also a feature on the higher priced jackets.
A full-around zipper is included in the back of the jacket to connect to any Dainese pants that have the mating zipper. The Assen or Pony pants would be good choices to make a nice 2pc sport/race suit for you. For street riding, this jacket has night time reflectives worked into the graphic design. A standard set of pockets are also provided for practical every-day use.
The overall quality and construction here are great. The leather is full weight and the tailoring and construction are top notch as with all Dainese jackets, so even though this jacket could be called “entry level” it isn’t any less in quality. :: Paul, 05-13-19
Dainese says: The Dainese Nexus Jacket is the center of new-fashioned motorcycling gear. Modern Dainese design with sporty aggression give the Nexus leather jacket its contemporary look and and feel. Cowhide leather resists abrasion and CE rated armor at the elbows and shoulders absorb impacts. Complete the impact protection by adding optional double chest protectors and a back protector, both sold separately. S1 bielastic fabric makes sure the fit is snug while allowing freedom of movement.
