Sizing Information

We tried a size Medium and an XL on our Fit Check mannequins Huey and Dewey. Those are sizes they usually wear in an “American” cut jacket. This jacket from REV’IT! fit very well. This new Tornado 2 jacket fits much like some of REVIT’s previous models for street and touring, and is cut a bit more relaxed than some of their more sporty styles. The relaxed cut is pretty close to what you find in other brands in the same sizes, although the overall fit is just a bit more snug than most. My overall advice would be to choose the size you normally wear in men’s clothing and when between sizes, choose the larger.

If you want to dig a little deeper and select a size based on your own measurements, then please see the chart below which shows the REV’IT!-published chest sizes for each jacket’s alpha size along with our estimate of max chest and max waist/belly. I believe our chart is more accurate and I only list their chart for reference in case you saw it elsewhere and wondered what was going on.

This particular style doesn’t taper a whole lot from chest to waist… only about 2”, so most people won’t have to worry about whether the belly area will work for them, but for those who do have an ample belly, we list the max size for each alpha size so you can make sure the size you choose will work.

Our Two Cents

This new Tornado 2 is the second version of their most popular summer jacket. Lots of brands make a great summer jacket, but what makes this one different/better? Well, the overall quality of the REVIT brand is excellent. It is in the finer details like the quality of the zipper and the very neat tailoring… expensive feeling fabrics and well engineered protection.

Just to look at these jackets, you can tell they are designed in Europe… the colors are in fashion and they have that “certain look” that REVIT really began over five years ago. The classic REVIT look is in the Silver/Black jacket in this model, but the Sand/Black and all Black are great looking too. I’d go with the sand myself just for something different looking.

So about the jacket’s functionality… this is a mostly mesh shell jacket with a removable liner. So with the liner removed, it’s a great style for hot weather. The wind should blow right through. But in cooler weather or wet weather, you can put the liner in for warmth and to keep dry. That liner insert is really a casual jacket in itself too. So if you are traveling that jacket can serve a purpose off the bike, which will save you some packing space (see our close up pictures to see the liner as a jacket). One point to make… MOST mesh jackets come with a liner, but they are strictly wind/rain liners, but the liner here is lightly insulated as well, which should make the jacket with liner more comfortable in lower temps. Hopefully you won’t be caught in a rain when it’s really hot… that would be the only circumstance when the insulation in the liner would be a bummer. Probably an unlikely scenario.

I mentioned the shell of this jacket being mostly mesh. If you plan on riding in REALLY hot and dry weather, then consider adding the optional Challenger cooling vest. It’s the kind of vest that you soak in water and then rely on evaporative cooling for comfort. Granted, you could use just any old cooling vest (we sell a number of them), but it’s handy that this one zips into the jacket using the same zips as the thermal liner for a neat and tidy package.

The armor package is excellent… the shoulder/elbow type is new and is REVIT’s CE Level 2 stuff which is about as good as it gets. The jacket doesn’t come with the back pad as standard, but you can add a level 2 back pad if you want (see the link below).

This Tornado 2 is the “can’t go wrong” choice for a three season and hot weather riding jacket… one that is high quality and looks sharp. I recommend it! :: Paul, 02-17-16

Add a Back Protector: This jacket is made with a pocket to accept a Seesoft CE Level 2 Back Protector Insert type RV (RV refers to the shape). For sizes Small or Medium, choose size 4; for Large thru XXL, choose size 5 and for XXXL and larger choose size 6.
