Sizing Information

We tried a size Medium and an XL on our Fit Check mannequins Huey and Dewey. Those are sizes they usually wear in an “American” cut jacket. This jacket from REV’IT! fits well enough and it looks sharp, but there is very minimal room left. Many brands from Europe exhibit a fit like this, such as Alpinestars. If you look at REV’IT’s published size chart (below), you’ll see their estimate of chest size is at least a full size smaller than what you’d find in equivalent US designed clothing.

We think the fit is just about one half size smaller than what you would find in ordinary US men’s clothing. The amount the jackets are undersized is not as severe as REV’IT’s size chart would have you believe. For most people, this means you’ll be able to buy the size you normally wear if you want a snug, European style fit. If you want a looser American fit, or if you are between sizes, choose one size larger.

Below is the REV’IT!-published chest sizes for each jacket’s alpha size along with our estimate of max chest and max waist/belly. This particular style is a normally styled street jacket so there is an average amount of taper from chest to waist, which is about 4”. For your convenience we’ve listed the max belly for each jacket size, so if you have a bit of a belly, you can check and make sure the jacket size you choose will be big enough for you. If your waist is smaller, there are side adjustment straps to tailor the fit.

Our Two Cents

The Arc Air jacket by REVIT is new for 2019. Its a great jacket with styling that is taken up a notch as compared to many REVIT styles. Its a sport cut jacket that includes armor. Last week we reviewed the GT-R Air 2 jacket from REVIT. The Arc Air jacket is similar in function and price but offers sportier styling. If you like the looks of this style, great. If you want something a bit tamer, then have a look at the GT-R Air 2.

The Arc Air is fitted with REVIT’s SEESMART™ CE-level 1 armor units in the shoulders and elbows. I think the SeeSmart design works well in a lighter weight jacket like this. It molds well to your body and is relatively thin and since it has a honeycomb construction, it works well in a summer jacket like this. Have a look at our photo gallery to see what it looks like. The jacket comes with a pocket for the addition of a back protector. You can add a SeeSoft unit to the jacket. Just read the sizing info below and take the link at the bottom of this page to buy.

A great deal of the surface area of this jacket is flow-through mesh material. The jacket isn’t waterproof and doesn’t have a thermal liner, so its full blast air conditioning when you go down the road, so pick this jacket for 70F and up riding. For some, that means this jacket will work for 2 or 3 seasons and for others in milder climates probably just the summer months. But when it really gets hot out you’ll love having a jacket like this. I’ve often said that a full mesh jacket like this can actually be cooler than a tee shirt. Reason being, the jacket keeps the sun off and cuts down on windburn. The Arc Air has zippers for the addition of REVIT’s Challenger cooling vest. Its a vest you can soak with water and then enjoy the cooling from the water’s evaporation as you ride. Take the link below to have a look at the vest and its features. It will work great in VERY hot and dry climates like CA, AZ for NV (or other similarly hot and dry conditions).

REVIT includes two ways to connect the back of the jacket to your pants. There are two simple snap-close loops you can use to attach the tail to your belt, and then there is also a short rear zipper which can zip to compatible REVIT riding pants. Alternately, you could buy one of REVIT’s Safeway belts which can be used to more securely attach the jacket to any pair of pants you have that use a belt (see below).

Have a look at the large pictures of the different colors in this jacket. It really gives a sport look, but it’s reasonably priced. The standard mesh material along with the “3D” mesh looks sharp (the 3D material is the stuff on the front upper chest and the upper back). Also, note the graphic design on the lower textile panels. :: Paul, 02-18-19

Add a Back Protector: This jacket is made with a pocket to accept a Seesoft CE Level 2 Back Protector Insert type RV (RV refers to the shape). For size XS, choose size 3; sizes Small or Medium, choose size 4; for Large thru XXL, choose size 5 and for XXXL and larger choose size 6.

am 5'10" tall, 200 lbs; 44 inch chest, 36 inch waist. I love the Arc Air jacket. It is a rather snug fit for a sports touring jacket unlike their Tornado series of jackets. I like the snug fit, and the color blacking is sharp (I love red/black/... (Read more...)
