Sizing Information
We checked the fit on these jackets with our size mannequins and we also spot checked a few different size jackets with a tape and we found this jacket to run unusually large… by at least one size. Most people will find they need one size smaller than they wear in men’s clothing, but because of the sizing uncertainty, we suggest you choose a size based upon your chest and belly measurements using the chart below.
You’ll want to use a soft tape and ask a friend to measure your chest and also your belly. If you need advice on how to do that, use the link below. Once you have a number for both your chest and belly, use the chart below to choose the smallest jacket size that is large enough for both.
Aside from this jacket running larger than the size would indicate, the overall cut of the jacket is an “American” fit, meaning it has a roomy fit and will work well for most body types included larger frame people. Those who are small-framed and those who prefer a trim “European” cut may want to choose a European cut brand like REVIT or Alpinestars.
A larger cut jacket like this should easily accommodate the addition of a back protector if you decide to add one, so there is no need to up-size.

Our Two Cents
The Oxford Spartan mesh jacket is a full mesh jacket for hot weather use. It includes armor and a removable rain/wind liner.
The basic mesh jacket here is not the main story. It’s a standard unit with mostly mesh and solid textile overlays on the shoulders and elbows. So this jacket will be of the most use in hot summer weather. It has a number of other basic features you’ll see on most mesh styles like this such as a few pockets, reflective materials, adjustable waist and armor. Armor is supplied standard in the shoulders and elbows. The units are standard rubberized molded material labeled CE level 1. You can also add a back protector which is listed below.
The surprising thing with this jacket is the removable wind/rain liner. If you install it in the jacket, it serves as a windproof liner, but you can also pull it out of the jacket and reverse it (turn it inside out) and you can actually wear it OVER the mesh jacket as a rainproof jacket. At first, I was skeptical it would fit over the jacket and armor, but sure enough, it does! Being able to wear a rain liner OVER a jacket has the advantage of keeping you dry along with the jacket itself, and all your personal items in the pockets, etc. Jackets where the rain liner goes under the jacket itself means the jacket gets wet (but you don’t). I’ve seen this setup of later model Olympia jackets, so it is becoming a viable feature.
For the money, you really can’t complain about this jacket. Like other Spartan jackets I’ve seen, it is “spartan”, but does deliver reasonable quality. If you just need a basic functional summer mesh jacket, without much style and sex appeal, this one will work. :: Paul, 07-08-19
