Cortech GX Sport 3 Jacket

We checked the sizing of this style with our Fit Check mannequins Huey and Dewey. They are wearing size Medium and XL jackets respectively. These are their “usual” sizes and they fit just fine. We also checked the chest and belly of the other sizes and find them to fit OK too. Therefore, we recommend you choose the size you normally wear in men’s clothing.

We developed the size chart below to help you choose based upon your chest/sleeve measurements. The chest measurements come from our observations and measurements and the sleeve lengths are from Cortech (which we find to be a good estimate). Begin digress- Why not use Cortech’s size chart? Well, it’s a long story, but Cortech/Tour Master seems to be perpetually “confused” about how to best represent their jackets in a size chart. Some literature will say a large is a 42 and other charts will say 44 or 46. So we chose to evaluate size on a product-by-product basis and report what we see on each product page. -end digress.

The “cut” of this jacket is geared toward street or sport riding, and the overall fit is “casual” (meaning not super snug like more race oriented jackets). We describe the fit of the jackets with the liner(s) installed and the jackets will be more roomy when not using the liners. For this reason, we recommend that If you find yourself between sizes, choose the smaller.

The jackets taper moderately from chest to waist… about 4”. If you have a bit of a belly, just make sure your belly size isn’t too big for the jacket size you choose. For example, we list the size XL as a 46 max chest and so the max belly for that jacket would be about 42. If your belly/waist is smaller than this, it shouldn’t be a problem because the jackets have a lot of adjustability in the waist.

Tall sizes: The standard sizes in this jacket will work for the “average height” rider. Tall sizes are approximately 2” taller in the sleeve and torso Sleeve lengths listed in the chart below are from the shoulder seam to the end of the arm cuff.

The GX Sport 3 jacket is a great all-purpose street sport textile style. The jacket has climate control features for three season conditions and wet weather (fall, winter, spring). The jacket has a removable full-sleeve thermal liner which will add a lot of insulation against cold weather, and of course the outer shell will block cold air. The jacket offers waterproof construction by way of a mid-liner (a waterproof barrier between the jacket’s shell and the nylon mesh interior lining). So the jacket’s solid textile shell, the removable thermal liner and the integral rainproof barrier will let you adjust for almost any mild to cold and/or wet weather. Hot weather? Well, I’d advise you to buy a mesh jacket. Even though this jacket has some modest zippered vents, the flow of air is only between the outer shell and rain liner, so venting is limited. For crash protection the shoulders and elbows come equipped with removable CE approved armor and there is also a removable back pad. There is also some external padding in the back of the jacket providing additional impact protection and adding to the overall looks of the jacket. New for this model is the reinforcements on the sleeves and shoulders (the stripes on the lower sleeve and the shoulders). It is a textured material that is bonded to the fabric. Mostly cosmetic for sure, but it looks cool and gives the jacket a more substantial look (IMHO). The jacket allows you to customize the fit with an adjustable waist, sleeves and cuff closures. There is an 8” jacket to pants attachment zipper for use with any Tour Master or Cortech riding pants. Overall, this is a very nice style with a lot of value which will make nearly any street rider happy. :: Paul, 10-17-12

Note: When doing our jacket evaluation, we found two jackets that had the thermal liner installed such that the sleeves of the liner were twisted 360 degrees, making it impossible to slip your arm in the jacket. If you run into this, just unsnap the sleeve of the liner from the jacket and straighten it out. Just a minor final assembly packaging mistake.
